Project Description
For this project, we created a foldable to distinguish Spanish verbs that have similar meanings. We were given a bunch of verb pairings ("twin verbs") and we had to do our own research to find out how they are different from each other.

What are you most proud of from this assignment?
I am happy with how my project looked in the end. I enjoy using foldables, and I can see how this foldable can help me study in the future. We were encouraged to make our foldables colorful and fun to use.
What 21st Century Skills does this project address?
I think that this project represents global awareness skills because I had to learn how to distinguish commonly confused words that belong to another language. Spanish is a very popular language and it is used differently across many countries. Some of the words that we had were synonyms. Even though they did not have much different in meaning, some of them were more preferred in certain countries. I think that this project shows how the Spanish language differs between regions.
How did you develop and/or improve upon your 21st Century Skills with this assignment?
Through this project I became more aware of the differences of different verb meanings in a language. Even when they were translated to English, it was still difficult for me to understand the differences between some of the verb meanings. Sometimes I had to challenge myself to learn how the verbs were used in context in order to distinguish their meaning.
What was most difficult about completing this task?
It was difficult for me to put of the verbs into context and come up with a distinguishable definition for each one. I wanted the information that I put on my foldable to be clear and easy to understand. This way, I would be able to easily remember what I learned without any confusions.
How could I improve this project?
I think that I could improve this project by planning it our more, and maybe bringing my own materials. I noticed that a lot of my classmates came up with their own methods for creating the foldable pieces of their foldable, and they looked very cool in the end. My foldable was pretty plain, and it was based on a model that the teacher used to explain the project. Some people also drew pictures with the definitions of their verbs, and I think that could have also done this to better illustrate the meanings of each word.
How does this relate to what you have learned in the past?
This relates to some of the Spanish vocabulary that we learned in class. I was familiar with many of the verbs that we used. In Semester 1 we learned about the differences between the Spanish speaking countries, and I think that this also helped me understand this project better. It prepared me learn that Spanish is spoken differently across different countries and cultures.
How can you apply this to future learning?
I think that I can apply what I learned through this project as I continue to study Spanish in the future. I want to continue to take Spanish next year and develop my speaking skills to be able to communicate with others. I think that I can use global awareness skills as I enter college and the workforce to communicate with people from different cultural backgrounds.
