Family and Friends
I am very grateful for my supportive friends and family. As an only child, I have a very close relationship with both of my parents.
Since I have started taking more classes at UHMC, I haven't been going to the school campus very often. However, I stay in touch with my friends through extracurricular activities. |

Academic Interests
|
My favorite subjects have always been related to math and science. In college, I plan on majoring in Biomedical Engineering to explore my interests in science, medicine, and engineering. My ultimate goal currently is to attend medical school and become a physician, but I am open to pursuing a career in Biomedical Engineering as well.
I am currently taking courses the University of Hawaii Maui College as part of Kihei Charter's early admit program, and I plan to continue my education at either Texas A&M or the Georgia Institute of Technology. |
Plans for The Future
I have always been interested in pursuing a career in medicine. I can imagine myself serving my local community as a physician or surgeon.
I am currently trying to set myself up to fulfill my goals by taking challenging courses, maintaining good grades, and participating in extracurricular activities. Even though I have a general idea of what career I want to pursue, I want to get more experience in these areas through internships, volunteer work, and career shadowing. |

Person Experiences, Growth, and Setbacks
This has been the most unique school year that I have had so far. Since I have started to take most of my classes at the college, my learning environment has changed a lot. I am spending less time on the high school campus and I have been introduced to new professors and students of different backgrounds. The biggest difficulty that I encountered this year is not being able to communicate with my old classmates as much as I did last year. Sometimes I miss announcements at the school about upcoming events or new rules. I also had some trouble adjusting to my new course schedule. College lectures are less frequent than high school class sessions, and this left me with a lot of spare time. However, the course load of college classes are much higher. I had to learn how to be self-directed and use my independent work time wisely in order keep up with my homework assignments and be prepared for exams.
