Project Description
For this project, we used Desmos to draw a rollercoaster with polynomial functions. We were put in groups of two to work on the assignment, and it was part of a test for our unit on polynomial functions.

What are you most proud of from this assignment?
I am proud of how our rollercoaster looked and with how my partner and I were able to manage our time wisely to complete the project on time. There were many different components to the project and we only had a limited amount of time to work on it.
What 21st Century Skills does this project address?
I think that this project represents interpersonal skills because I had to work effectively with a partner in order to complete the assignment. Since the project consisted of many parts and had a few constraints, we had to use our time wisely and work together in order to complete the assignment.
How did you develop and/or improve upon your 21st Century Skills with this assignment?
I used interpersonal skills before the project by communicating with my partner before the project began to plan out the project. During the class time that we had to work on the project, we talked about different ideas for the rollercoaster and assigned each other specific tasks to work on within the project.
What was most difficult about completing this task?
I think that the most difficult part of completing this project was being able to work on part of the project simutaneously. We could not work on the Desmos graph at the same time so one person had to work on the graph while the other person waited. We took turns writing different functions, but this still posed a time challenge. Our work also got deleted when we came to work on the project the next day, but luckily we had pictures of our functions that we could use to recreate our scene again. The second part of the project was creating the slideshow, so while one person worked on the recreating the rollercoaster, the other could create the slides.
How could I improve this project?
I think that I could improve this project by managing my time better and by getting a better understand of the project's requirements beforehand. We had to create a background in addition to our rollercoaster, but we did not know how detailed our background needed to be. Towards the end of the project, we realized that the background needed to have more detail than we originally thought. We were able to finish everything on time, but it was very rushed.
How does this relate to what you have learned in the past?
This project relates to what we learned about polynomial functions earlier in the quarter. We also learned how to use Desmos to graph our functions and make them look the way that we wanted them to. I have done a project with Desmos before for my Algebra 1 class.
How can you apply this to future learning?
I think that I can apply what I learned about polynomial functions as I continue in my education. I will also need to use interpersonal skills to work with others in the future.
