Why do I want to show this work?
Our chemistry projects are usually experiments and lab reports, so this was a very unique project for this class. It required a lot of creative thinking, time-management and patience. I put a lot of effort into coming up with a storyline for my comic and drawing out the panels. With the amount of time that I had to create it, I am happy with how it turned out.
What 21st Century Skills Does this project address?
This project addresses self-directional skills. I had to manage my time wisely and be self-directed during our work-time in class in order to complete this project by the assigned due date. This was an independent project, so I had to complete every aspect of my comic on my own.
How does this project represent my current growth?
This project challenged me to be creative and apply the information I learned in a unique way. I took me a very long time to come up with a story that I wanted to draw, but I finally came up with an idea through consistent brainstorming. Planning out the comic and coloring and outlining it (I painted my comic with watercolor) also took a lot of time, and I ended up working on part of it on the morning before the due date.
How could I improve this project?
I think that I need to work more on my time-management. I outlined my comic in the last minute, and I made a few mistakes that were impossible to fix. If I could re-do this project, I would use my planner more, plan out my comic drawing into steps, and arrange time to work on it in small pieces after school each day (instead of working on all of it in the last two days).
