Project Description
In Algebra 2, we created a linear programming slideshow to end our unit on linear functions and systems of equations. We were put into groups to solve two word problems, where we had to find ways to maximize profits or minimize cost in certain situations. Everyone in the group created their own graphs to go along with their answer, and put their findings in a google slideshow.

Why do I want to show this work?
I enjoyed this project because we got to apply the skills we learned in real-world situations. I can see how I might use this knowledge to evaluate financial situations in the future. I also got to work with in a good group, and we worked very well together. This project addresses many different 21st Century skills, even though it was completed in only a short period of time.
What 21st Century Skills does this project address?
This project addresses financial, economic, and business literacy skills because we learned how to apply math skills into real-world situations, where a business needs to maximize their profits or minimize the costs of a certain operation. Almost everyone will have a job where they provide products or services, and every product and service has its own cost and profitability. Understanding how to maximize profits and minimize costs will be critical to how we perform in work and in how we contribute to the economy.
How does this project represent my current growth?
This project challenged me to learn something new and apply the skills I had already learned to unique situations. I also had to work effectively with my group to solve all of the problems and complete my graphs accurately.
How could I improve this project?
I think that I could improve this project by making my graphs more neat and accurate. I could do this by using easily divisible units for each of the boxes on my graph and outlining my calculations in pen. If I could redo this project, I would graph all of my functions on graphing calculator (such as Desmos), and use screenshots of those graphs instead.
